Con il termine di mwcaprostanoide si indicano una sottoclasse di mwcqeicosanoidi. In particolare il termine è riferito per indicare genericamente le molecole quali le mwcgprostaglandine, mwcwtrombossani e mwdaprostacicline.

La mwdgbiosintesi dei prostanoidi avviene per azione della mwdwfosfolipasi A2 sui mwealipidi di membrana. L'enzima consente il rilascio di mweqacido arachidonico che, per azione della mwegciclossigenasi avvia il processo a catena che porta alla formazione dei prostanoidi.
